On Thursday morning, Vice President Mike Pence surprised country music fans with an incredible surprise interview on Sirius XM’s country music station.
Pence was extremely saddened by Sunday’s horrific shooting. He spoke with host Storme Warren who was actually present at Sunday’s concert and witnessed the terrible events of the night.
“I can’t, for the life of me, imagine what it was like to be there,” Pence told listeners.
Vice President Pence said he was especially moved by what took place just minutes before the shooting began. Before Jason Aldean’s set began, the entire crowd of fans came together to sing “God Bless America” in unison. What an incredible show of national pride before such or horrible event. Pence was extremely affected when he learned that this happened.
“The last time I remember being that moved by that account was when I stood on the steps of the United States Capitol on Sept. 11, 2001 and that same song broke out,” Pence told the radio listeners.
This was a tragic event for our country, but together, we will fight through it. We cannot let these events divide us. We must all stand together to fight against the violence that threatens our nation.
Pence feels apart of the country community and promised to keep making our country safer and more secure for all Americans:
“I know the character of the people who cherish country music. I share their values, their sense of community. And I think we’ll come through this stronger than ever before.”
Keep those victims of this tragic shooting in your prayers this week!
